Preliminary analysis of the results of a pilot clinical study of the use of photodynamic therapy to correct liver regeneration in patients with cirrhosis. Photolon solution prepared ex tempore was administered intravenously to patients. The liver was irradiated intraoperatively 3 hours after the drug was administered, using a laser device generating red spectral radiation with a wavelength of 670 nm. All patients successful underwent surgery. The use of the proposed method of photodynamic therapy in patients with liver cirrhosis indicates an improvement in the functional state of the liver, a decrease in the processes of cytolysis and cholestasis, activation of protein-synthetic processes and processes of urea synthesis, an increase in the antioxidant potential, as well as, along with our earlier results in experimental studies on the reduction of connective tissue in the liver. This justifies the need for further clinical studies of the effectiveness of the proposed method for correcting liver regeneration.
