<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article is devoted to topical issues of increasing the efficiency of forensic wood research through the use of innovative technologies. It evaluates the possibilities of using spectroscopy in the near-infrared region to establish (confirm) the species of wood, and examines the main chemometric algorithms for creating classification models in the case of multi-object and binary classification. It is shown that an important condition for the correct interpretation of spectral data is the presence of a constantly updated database of standard (reference) NIR spectra.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>спектроскопия в ближней инфракрасной области</kwd><kwd>хемометрические алгоритмы</kwd><kwd>древесина</kwd><kwd>сосна обыкновенная</kwd><kwd>судебная экспертиза</kwd><kwd>классификационные модели</kwd><kwd>видовая принадлежность</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>near-infrared spectroscopy</kwd><kwd>chemometric algorithms</kwd><kwd>wood</kwd><kwd>Scots pine</kwd><kwd>forensic examination</kwd><kwd>classification models</kwd><kwd>species identification</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Khokh A.
